Cheap online car insurance quote

A few years ago the rumour was that everything was cheaper online, everything from holidays to car insurance should bought on the Internet. As the novelty of online shopping wore off so did the prices, or rather rumours of the prices that could be had. Cheap online car insurance quotes are still to be had today but you need to know what you are doing:

Comparison websites do not include every insurer, in fact insurers may actually have to pay to be included in these services. The ones who dont pay them might have a better price to pass onto you but you will not know unless you check.
Traditional insurance companies can be slow to get online and might not be the best option, starting your search with the name of a well known insurer might hinder your attempt to find the best deal.

Its easy to rebrand online, an insurance company could throw up a new website in a few hours that is uses to offer its same services to a different niche! You might be thinking you are going with www.myinsurancesite.co.uk but you could actually be using someone known to you from the high street!

The best place to start your search is with a few of the best known insurance comparison sites – these are not always the best option if you are just after a one off quick quote, however, if you get an account setup you can then search all the main insurers fairly quickly.
To make sure you do not omit any of the better insurance companies who have opted to avoid the price comparison sites, at this time, you might want to search your preferred search engine for the term “insurance companies not on price comparison sites” and see what crops up, any you like the sound of request a quote from them.

The above process might not fit in with the perceived quick quote process you can get online but when you compare it to the offline route to getting a quote you will realise that the number of companies who quote you in the same short period of time, when done online, is much greater and this increases your chances of getting a successful hit (good price).

Once you get the quote you need you usually have two options, you can either buy the insurance there and then from a link that will be presented to you or, as many more people seem to do, receive an email with the quote information which will also contain a “buy” button. You can hang onto the email and take up the offered cover at the price presented to you for a period of (usually) thirty days.
The payment options when actually taking up a Cheap online car insurance quote are usually annual or monthly. You can pick which ever option you like. Annual would normally need to be paid there and then on a card whereas the monthly option can be setup via direct debit. If you need the cover to start quickly and want to take a monthly payments option then you are often asked to make the 1st payment via a card and the direct debit will then function for all subsequent payments, if you don’t have a credit card but are happy to pay by direct debit then this could be a great way to convince your parents to pay the first month for you (students!)..
